Key Components of a Bulk Plastic Pipe Coiler

2025-06-20

A Bulk Plastic Pipe Coiler is specialized equipment used in extrusion lines to automatically coil plastic pipes—typically in PE, PEX, PVC, or similar flexible materials—into uniform rolls for easier storage, handling, and transport. These machines are widely used in the production of small to medium diameter pipes such as:

PE irrigation pipes

PEX pipes for heating systems

Drip irrigation tubing

Flexible conduit and cable protection sleeves

Key Components of a Bulk Plastic Pipe Coiler:

1. Double or Single Station Coiler:

Double station: For continuous production without stopping pipe extrusion.

Single station: Lower cost, but requires pausing production for reel changes.

2. Automatic Traverse System:

Ensures uniform layer winding of the pipe on the coil.

Reduces manual adjustment and improves coiling quality.

3. Tension Control System:

Maintains consistent tension during coiling.

Protects pipe from overstretching or deformation.

4. Pipe Cutter (optional):

Cuts the pipe automatically when the coil is full or at preset lengths.

5. Coil Strap/Binding Unit (optional):

Automatically straps the coil to secure it after winding.

6. Touchscreen HMI (Human-Machine Interface):

Allows operators to control coil length, speed, traverse width, etc.

Technical Features to Look For:

Feature
Benefit
Servo motor traverse
Precise and programmable coil layering
Adjustable mandrel size
Accommodates various pipe diameters (e.g. 16mm–110mm)
Coil ID/OD flexibility
Supports different customer packaging specs
Integration-ready
Can synchronize with extruder line (haul-off, cutter, etc.)
PLC & HMI Control
User-friendly operation and recipe storage

Applications in Production:

High-speed PE drip irrigation pipe extrusion lines

PEX-AL-PEX composite pipe lines

Flexible gas or water tubing

Microduct for fiber optic cable protection

Custom Options Available:

Fully automatic coil ejection and core exchange

Multiple coil stacking

Offline coiling unit (standalone coiling not tied to an extrusion line)

Coil labeling and barcode tagging systems
